The Transmed project involves ten partner organizations from Spain, Netherlands, India and Sri Lanka
The project will integrate knowledge from Asia and Europe in the development of education programs in Transfusion Medicine and will provide Asian partners with sophisticated equipment that will facilitate education tasks ant the long-term implementation of the model.

Universal access to safe blood and blood products for transfusion
The consortium wishes to undertake the capacity building in order to achieve two major goals: i) To Improve competences on professionals working in the field of transfusion medicine in order to make a blood transfusion safer and to save precious human lives and, ii) to improve the harmonization of transfusion medicine practice within Asian countries.

To achieve the WHO objectives competency among staff in transfusion medicine in Asia
Most health professionals in Asia are only trained initially before recruiting to the blood transfusion services and occasionally trained through workshops and in-service training. The consortium wishes to undertake this this capacity building

Expected impact will cover transfusion medicine healthcare workers, local stakeholders and communities
The project has some potential to have substantial impacts in the short, medium and long terms and, if successful, the possible multiple effects are realistic. Some impact indicators are offered, albeit with limited quantitative data.

Consortium Members Visited NBTS Sri Lanka
In the sideline of Kick-off meeting consortium members visited to National Blood Transfusion Service - Sri Lanka. They observed the process and protocol in place by the NBTS to maintain a timely supply of quality assured blood, blood components, and related laboratory and clinical services across Sri Lanka.

Training session on Project Plan and Portfolio Roadmap with Jira
To introduce peer training as a practice among consortium members a peer learning program was intiatied. The first training under this learning program was on Jira Software. The training prepares the participents to manage and configure the TRANSMED projects in Jira Software and partner effectively with all stakeholders.

Transformative Influence of the ERASMUS+ Program on Manpower Development in AATM Countries: Insights from the 18th Annual Congress of the Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine
Team TRANSMED had the privilege of participating in a thought-provoking panel discussion centered around the transformative impact of the ERASMUS+ Program on manpower development in AATM countries. This engaging discourse took place as part of the 18th Annual Congress of the Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine and the 4th Joint Meeting with the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies, held from the 1st to the 2nd of December 2023, at the Convention Centre, Hotel Lemon Tree, Sector 60, Gurgaon (Delhi NCR).
